This week, we’ve received multiple calls comparing a €175 “ceramic package” (applied on a driveway) to our €500–€800 professional ceramic coating service. It’s clear there’s a lot of confusion surrounding the term “ceramic.”
Here’s what you need to know:
1. Ceramic Waxes:
These combine the benefits of traditional wax with added ceramic elements for improved water behavior. While they enhance shine and provide short-term protection, they typically last around 3 months and offer durability similar to traditional wax.
2. Ceramic Quick Detailers:
Spray-on products designed for quick touch-ups, removing fingerprints and water spots while adding a light boost of ceramic protection. Ideal for maintaining a properly coated car, they have standalone durability of 6–8 weeks (or slightly longer for premium options).
3. True Ceramic Coatings:
The real deal—a professional-grade product that chemically bonds to your car's surface, creating a durable, hydrophobic layer. Ceramic coatings offer long-lasting protection against UV rays, oxidation, and contaminants.
Proper application requires extensive preparation, a clean surface, controlled conditions, and expertise.
These coatings last years, not weeks, and can only be removed by abrasion.
Key Point: If a "ceramic coating" service costs €200 or less, it’s almost certainly an inferior product like a ceramic wax or quick detailer, offering minimal benefits over traditional wax.

Ask Questions:
Before you commit, always ask what kind of "ceramic" is being applied.
Ceramic Wax ≠ Ceramic Coating
Spray Ceramic QD ≠ Ceramic Coating
Ceramic Snow Foam ≠ Ceramic Coating
Your car is NOT being ceramic coated at a roadside car wash or during a 2–3 hour valet.
True ceramic coatings are a professional service that demands expertise, preparation, and time. Don’t settle for less if you expect long-term protection and outstanding results.
